A big idea, entrepreneurial spirit drive Miami Beach tech company
By: Nancy Dahlberg, The Miami Herald
A small hourglass sits at everyone's work station at Third Solutions, founder Birame Sock's low-tech way of reminding her growing team that time is precious, especially at a startup like hers.
"We gave each of the team members and advisors an hourglass as a reminder that we cannot afford to waste any time in anything we do and that speed to market is our biggest advantage", Sock explained.
That hourglass is about all that is low-tech about Third Solutions, which has developed MyReceipts.com, a green solution for consumers to receive and file receipts online as well as a targeted marketing platform for retailers.
Already, MyReceipts.com is in beta testing at Whole Foods and the company is working to secure other retailers. Sock recently raised more than $3 million in angel funding and, in the last couple of months, has grown her team from five employees to 17.

I knew she had been working on a new idea ever since, and I was curious to see what she was up to. Turns out, she had just launched myreceipts.com the week before…

Please Kill the Paper Receipt
By: Don Fornes
We recently hosted a poll to gauge the level of interest in ending paper receipts. We had a great turnout with over 200 voters. Thank you to all those who participated and to the bloggers who helped us spread the word about this! Out of 226 votes, 202 people or 89% said they support getting rid of paper receipts. Of the remaining votes, 15 people voted no, seven voted undecided and two people said they don't care.
I'm a Whole Foods regular. Not just any Whole Foods, but the flagship World headquarters in Austin, Texas. I live right across the street and every morning I stop in on my walk to work. I pick up two breakfast tacos and a coffee.
I also pick up a useless paper receipt…
